Abstract

Nickel-iron aUoy electrodeposits are of particular interest in the electronic industry especially in the maWletic recording field. However, during deposition, control of iron content is difficult, as it gets altered even with slight changes in operating conditions. Presence of hypophosphite ion can control the iron codeposition by cbanging the deposition mechanism. Moreover, pbosphorous content in deposit can hring about an amorpbous structure which incidentally improves the hardness, wear resistance and other magnetic properties of tbe coating. The results are di.~cussed in this paper.
