Abstract
The electro-oxidation of glucose to calcium gluconete has been investigated in an undivided bipolar flow reactor with narrow
inter-electrode gaps. The process conditions such as current density, electrolyte concentration, temperature and rate of flow
have been optimised and a detailed materiil balance has been carried out. A comparative evaluation of the flow reactor with
rotating electrode cell has been made on the basis of energy consumption for the process
