Abstract

This paper describes the fabrication of an ion-selective electrode in which a polymeric schiff basc complex of cobalt(l1) is used as the ionophore. The main advantage of the electrode is that it is mechanically s~ableu pro 3 nlonths. The clecrrodc shows a linear response in the range of 2.5 x 10'~-0.5x 10.' mol dm-3.T he response time of the elecrrodc is 30 s. The pH I-ange at which the electrode works is 3.8 to 6.8. The electrode was found to be selective towards chlol-ide ion in the presence of ions like Na'. ~ a " .~ n " .~ e ~c'o.2 +,~ i " ,c u2+,z n2'. CH,COO-, NOi, SO?, Brand NO?..
