A significant increase in hardness and wear resistance was observed by incorporation of WC particles in nickel deposits. These properties were not drastically altered, even after annealing up to 800 deg.C, unlike nickel deposits. This has been attributed to Ni-W solid sodium formation. Also, the oxidation resistance of the composite was found to be better than that of pure nickel deposits
