Abstract

A broad classification of electroanalytical methods into equilibrium potential measurements and impedance measurements is presented. The ion selective electrode approach in the former and polarographic, voltammetric and stripping analysis methods in the latter are the more popular methods and are discussed in greater detail than the other methods. The application of electroanalytical chemistry in Marine Electrochemistry are then traced. Some special advantages of voltammetric method of analysis when compared to atomic absorption spectroscopy are brought out. Anodic Stripping Voltammetry and O2 sensors are also discussed in some detail.
