Abstract

Concentrated sea bitterns obtained from solar evaporation is perhaps the cheapest soure for the production of magnesium metal. The bitterns obtained from different sources have been tested for magnesium metal production. An important step towards the preparation of cell feed from bittern is the desulphation. Since the use of calcium chloride is economically more advantageous for this purpose, the desulphation efficiencies using calcium chloride were studied systematically.
